PostSubject: Detroit Billboard Causes Controversy   Sun Mar 01, 2009 10:00 pm

DETROIT (AP) - A teaser for an MGM Grand Detroit casino ad campaign
that features a pair of golden eyes peering at motorists from a
billboard is causing a stir among some who see the image as sinister.

The Detroit billboard depicts the eyes on a black background, accompanied by a golden silhouette of MGM's signature lion.

City Councilwoman Alberta Tinsley-Talabi told The Detroit News that she wants it taken down.

The
Rev. James A. Smith, pastor of Maranatha Gospel Church in the Detroit
suburb of Romulus, says it "looks like a demon glaring at you."

Yvette
Monet, a spokeswoman for casino parent MGM Mirage Inc., said the
company wasn't aware of protests. She says Las Vegas-based MGM is
excited it's generating buzz, since that's the intended effect.

Poltically correct, to me, is just a phrase they use as a cop out. They hide behind this slogan or whatever the fuck just like they hide behind the shield of "common decency" and "respect me but I bitch slap you."

Oh sorry, yeah, fucking commies.

The way I see it....

No politician from Detroit needs to complain about anything that is going to bring in money to the city that has laid off 50% of their police force. The city is broke as a mofo and what's really sinister is the fact that so many Detroit citizens have lost their jobs from the recent auto industry disaster and police layoffs. So I gives a damn if it's the most shocking thing up there. The city needs money like yesterday. People really ought to be focusing on the road any damn way....not how "scary or sinister" a poster is. I find it funny that a City Councilwoman complained when the City is damn near bankrupt.

It seems as if they need things to complain about and find issues with things except for what they are supposed to be doing.

Yeah I could see someone focusing on the billboard too long and hitting each other...pathetic.
